FETAL DISTRESS
PREVENTION
Prompt diagnosis and remedial treatment are critical to the prevention
of birth injuries from fetal distress. Fetal Heart Monitoring can
identify a fetus in distress. Bradycardia (slow heart beat), tachycardia
(rapid heart beat), and decelerations associated with contraction
can be identified by the fetal heart monitor. Once distress is detected
further testing can determine the specific cause of the distress
and allow remedial action before harm occurs.
