BREAST CANCER
Breast cancer remains the most common form of cancer in women.
Early diagnosis of breast cancer is critical. If treatment is delayed,
the patient may need much more extensive treatment than she might
otherwise have needed. Delay in diagnosis and treatment can reduce
the patient's chances of survival and may ultimately be the difference
between life and death. Symptoms of breast cancer may include a
lump in the breast, pain and nipple discharge. Obtaining and evaluating
a patient's medical history, including age, previous breast cancer
and breast surgery history, and incidents of breast cancer in close
relatives (mother, sisters, and daughters) is important in making
an early diagnosis. Techniques currently available for early diagnosis
of breast cancer include breast
self-examination, physical breast examination by a health care
provider, mammography, ultrasound, MRI, computerized tomography,
fine needle asperation and biopsy.
If you or a loved one are suffering with breast cancer and suspect
that there was a delay in diagnosis or proper treatment, call us.
