  • A woman will die from breast cancer every 12 minutes.
  • Breast cancer is the leading cause of death for women ages 40 - 55.
  • This year 1,300 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the U.S.
  • Approximately 400 men will die from breast cancer this year.

CAUSATION

The exact cause of breast cancer is unknown. There are risk factors associated with the disease. Some risk factors are brought on by individual lifestyles and can be controlled. An example of controllable risk factors is a poor diet and/or excessive alcohol consumption. Other risk factors can not be controlled such as age and genetics. Every woman is at risk for breast cancer. An estimated two-thirds of women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer had no known risk factors.
