PROSTATE CANCER
 |
Prostate cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer among
men. Early diagnosis of prostate cancer is critical. If treatment
is delayed, the patient may need much more extensive surgery, chemotherapy
or radiation therapy than he might otherwise have needed. Delay
in diagnosis and treatment can reduce the patient's chances of survival
and may ultimately be the difference between life and death. Every
man over the age of 40 should have a digital rectal examination
as part of his regular annual physical checkup. The American Cancer
Society recommends that men age 50 and over have an annual PSA blood
test. If there is a family history (father or brother), or African-American
background, PSA screening should begin at age 40. Symptoms of prostate
cancer may include blood or pus in the urine or semen, difficulty
in starting or stopping urination, inability to urinate, weak or
interrupted urine flow, need to urinate frequently (especially at
night), painful or burning urination and continuing pain in the
lower back, pelvis or upper thighs. If a medical mistake was made,
you may have a valid claim and be entitled to compensation for your
injuries.
If you, or a loved one, are suffering with prostate cancer and
