Paralegal
Who We Are:
We are a respected small(ish) Olympia-based law firm, serving clients in Thurston, Lewis, and Mason Counties. We pride ourselves on our skilled staff and client commitment. Our team approach to representation and client satisfaction is key to our success. We focus on providing our family law and divorce clients with the best possible representation while maintaining a positive, productive, and professional workplace. Our practice is heavy on litigation. Our legal support staff is given a great deal of responsibility in the management of cases.
What We Are Looking For:
An energetic and dynamic individual who meets or exceeds the following requirements and is anxious to join a team of like-minded professionals. JD applicants are welcome.
Position Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Managing a robust client caseload;
- Maintaining organized paper and electronic files, including opening, indexing, scanning, concurrent and accurate filing, and appropriately closing;
- Providing litigation and clerical support to the assigned attorney;
- Managing calendars: including scheduling and tracking client appointments, discovery, court dates, etc;
- Completing standardized dissolution and other court forms;
- Using CS Suites for child support calculations;
- Drafting pleadings, declarations, and other case-related documents;
- Preparing and responding to discovery requests;
- Drafting client and other business correspondence;
- Filing documents with the appropriate court;
- Checking court hearing calendar to ensure all hearings are properly noted;
- Attending client meetings with attorneys
- Meeting, interviewing, and interacting with clients and witnesses;
- Handling potential client intake calls;
- Attending all Paralegal, Legal Team, and Staff meetings
The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of one year of divorce and family law experience in the state of Washington;
- Excellent writing skills;
- Strong computer and technological skills;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Reliability and accountability traits;
- Ability to work efficiently in a team environment and supportive role;
- Proficiency with Word, Outlook, Excel, and child support calculation software;
- Familiarity with Washington law, standardized Dissolution forms, and local court systems;
- Proficiency with Word Suite, CS Suites, TABS, and Odyssey;
- Litigation experience;
- Positive and pleasant attitude;
- Professional appearance and demeanor;
- Ability and willingness to work in our office environment. (This is not a remote position.)
- Ability to function in a high-stress environment productively and to meet high expectations.
This is a full-time and in-person office position. Hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
New hires must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and willing to follow all COVID-19 protocols and mandates.

Pay: $24.00 – $30.00 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Admitted to and in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association.
- Excellent legal and analytic skills.
- Prior domestic law experience.
- Prior experience working with active duty and retired military members.
- Knowledge of the workings of Thurston and Pierce County Courts.
- Aggressive advocacy traits.
